Changes to Terms & Conditions (July 2008)

In line with our ongoing commitment to ensure Rxchange operates at the highest standards of legal and ethical practice we are announcing changes to the Terms and Conditions of use of the Rxchange website.

Withdrawal of Split Pack listing option

Following discussion between the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and Rxchange, the listing and sale of 'split-pack' stock will not be permitted. This ensures that all transactions effected through Rxchange are in line with the latest Medicines, Ethics and Practice guidance relating to the meaning of "wholesale dealing" and the requirement that any stock sold to another company must be sold in whole packs. Accordingly any stock listed as a 'split-pack' will be automatically delisted from sellers accounts. This will be with immediate effect.

All stock must be in original packaging

All stock transacted must be in the original packaging with correct batch and expiry information, where appropriate. It is recognised that items such as hosiery may not have an expiry date, but must nevertheless be supplied in original packaging.

We would also remind users that it is the buyers responsibility to ensure that stock received is in an appropriate condition for sale or supply to patients, including correct batch and expiry information. It is the sellers responsibility to ensure that patient returns are not transacted, that stock is stored correctly and according to manufacturers guidelines. Storage conditions during transit should ensure that products are received in appropriate and viable condition.

Commenting on these changes, Rxchange's Clinical Director Michelle Claridge MRPharmS said:

"Rxchange has always sought to provide a legitimate and legally compliant route for pharmacies to transact with each other to ease the inevitable difficulties associated with holding large volumes of diverse stock. We welcome the opportunity to engage with the RPSGB, enhance and develop our business systems, operating standards and professional practice."
